How I got here…

I began studying Russian in high school, during the Cold War, then majored in Russian in college. When my advisor gave me a copy of Russian poet Osip Mandelstam’s book Tristia, I decided to translate it as my senior project. That was the beginning.

I went on to get a master’s degree and then a doctorate in Russian and Slavic languages. After 9/11, I worked in intelligence and translated scientific and strategic documents. As a former medical writer and editor, I discovered there was also demand for translation in healthcare research. I’m now devoted to translation and photography.
